The Hotel Gould in Seneca Falls, NY
It's a Wonderful Life!
Historical Significance:
First built in 1919, and opened in 1920, the hotel is named after its financier, the Goulds Manufacturing Company.
In 2009, it was briefly renamed (We sold it!) the
Hotel Clarence after the angel in the film It's a Wonderful Life, which is rumored to be set in Seneca Falls.
A four-story, imposing red brick building with an austere look, the interior has been updated to feature a sleek, modern, and boutique style. Renovations in 2009 and 2014 added contemporary elements while honoring the building's history. The decor features intricate scrollwork combined with modern lines, giving it a unique mix of historic charm and modern elegance.
